This summer, Carbon Brief is offering a unique three-week paid journalism internship for students or recent graduates. The placement provides a hands-on opportunity to work alongside experienced journalists, visual designers, and social media specialists in a hybrid office environment near London Bridge.

Internship Overview

The internship runs from 13 to 31 July, with standard office hours of 9 am to 5 pm (Monday to Friday, including a one-hour lunch break). Interns are paid the London Living Wage (currently £14.80 per hour) and receive an additional £100 travel bursary to help with commuting costs. The role follows a hybrid format: part of the time is spent in person at the office near London Bridge station in central London, with the remainder working remotely.

You will report to Associate Editor Daisy Dunne and be fully integrated into the editorial team for the duration of the placement.

What You Will Do

Throughout the internship, you will shadow staff members across different roles—from journalists covering climate science and China’s emissions, to specialists in visuals and social media. This gives you a broad understanding of how a small, independent global journalism team operates.
